If you’re anything like me when it comes to summer and kids… the more options to beat the heat the better! So when I recently heard about the Apache Junction Library being an awesome place for young ones, I had to give it a shot.
(Plus I’m currently battling one toddler giving up naps while one still needs lots of sleepy time, so car rides and me get along just fine…but I digress.)
We arrived a few minutes before opening time and thanks to the huge playground outside got straight to our adventure while we waited. I immediately became a kid again as we strolled into the children’s area through a magical archway of giant, candy colored storybooks and a welcoming, two-story castle just begging to be explored (complete with dress up clothes and a royal throne)!
Around the corner from the castle is a perfect learning area, offering hands on play stations in every nook and cranny. Some of the fun included a felt board wall, a magnet station, a moveable clock, gears and levers, puzzles, and even a kitchen! If I thought it couldn’t get better, a cute little puppet show theatre proved me wrong.
Further exploration at the opposite end of the children’s area led us to a block play station, a dragon’s lair (with a huge dragon peeking out over the wall to keep an eye on things), a light up picture wall, and a coloring station. Oh, and last but not least (because it is a library after all) the BOOKS… a huge selection great for many age levels and interests.
It can be difficult to find places that hold kids interests for more than a few minutes, and we played here for around two hours (which is saying a lot for 2 toddlers)!
I’m glad we took the time to visit the Apache Junction Library because it will definitely be a new favorite, and I highly recommend it to other activity-seeking moms… summer heat or not.
